Sugarcane Bagasse

Bagasse is a natural material made from the discarded husks of sugar cane, it is a completely compostable material increasingly used for:

  • food packaging
  • disposable cutlery
  • replacement for styrofoam

When compared to paper, recycled paper or styrofoam it weighs up very well, it requires the least amount of water and energy to produce and will completely decompose quicker.

Some additional benefits are:

  • Thermal resistant unto 95 degrees
  • Microwave safe
  • More durable than some plastic alternatives
  • Good insulation to retain heat
  • Water and grease resistant

At Better Switch Green we think it’s a great solution for the huge amounts of convenience products that need to be packaged.
